Brianna Louwen has just returned to Perth from a year in the UK, studying a Masters in Music: Solo Voice Ensemble Singing under Robert Hollingworth (I Fagiolini). This was made possible by a Young Person and the Arts International Travelling scholarship from the West Australian Department of Culture and the Arts, as well as many extremely generous Perth donors. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Western Australia and currently works for the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in their Crescendo Education program.
Brianna is an experienced Choral Singer and has toured the UK and Europe with choirs such as I Fagiolini, The Carice Singers, The Willow Consort, The 24 (University of York) and Cenere. As a soloist she has appeared with the Royal Northern Sinfonia and more recently the St George’s Cathedral Consort and Orchestra giving the Perth premiere of Handel’s Solomon.
In Perth Brianna appears regularly with the St George’s Cathedral Choir and Consort, and the Giovanni Consort. In 2016 she was the winner of the Fremantle Eisteddfod Open Aria Competition, an achievement she is very proud of.
Brianna is extremely excited to be involved with the PCI, and believes that Perth is in an excellent time of musical growth and opportunity. She can’t wait to see what the participants in the 2018 Perth Choral Institute Summer School are capable of!
