Adrian Soares

Adrian is a fourth year music student at the University of Western Australia, and is a recipient of the prestigious Tunley Scholarship at the University, studying piano with Graeme Gilling. He began learning piano at the age of 7, and also studied clarinet and saxophone through high school at Trinity College, in addition to singing in chorales and vocal ensembles. Adrian is a keen performer, and has competed and won prizes in numerous eisteddfods, competitions and festivals in Perth. He also completed his A.Mus.A (AMEB) for piano in 2012, received the Waveney Wansborough Prize at UWA in 2016, and has performed in many masterclasses with many highly regarded pianists and musicians from Australia and internationally.

Adrian currently teaches piano at Mercedes College and Iona Presentation College, and accompanies and plays with many ensembles, orchestras, choirs, instrumentalists and singers at UWA and in Perth, including the WA Youth Orchestra, UWA Orchestra, UWA Symphonic Chorus, Fremantle Women’s Choir, and the WA Charity Orchestra. He regularly sings with VOYCES, Giovanni Consort and Schola Aedis Christi, and recently participated in the National Youth Choir of Australia in Brisbane in 2017.

In 2017, Adrian made his debut with WASO performing Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G for the WACE Set Works Concert, he played piano with WASO for WA Ballet’s production of Great Gatsby, and this year will be playing with the WASO Chorus on their China tour in May. In February 2018 he will also be making his solo debut at the Perth Concert Hall, playing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the WA Charity Orchestra.
