Choral Courses

The Perth Choral Institute aims to help young singers develop their abilities through a variety of Choral Courses. These can be attended by singers as young as 7 up to the age of 25. Some are residential, whilst others do not require singers to live together for the duration of the course.

The PCI Summer School is the jewel in the crown of the Perth Choral Institute. The Summer School is an eight-day residential course for singers aged 15 to 25. It provides an intensive but highly enjoyable week of training in choral music. Participants receive individual singing lessons, group workshops, small ensemble rehearsals and multiple performance opportunities.

The objective of this course is to offer developing singers a unique opportunity to perform at the highest level with like-minded musicians, providing a gateway to the rich choral scene of Western Australia. All staff on the course have links to Perth and are either current or past members of such diverse, successful and talented ensembles as WA Opera, St George’s Cathedral Choir & Consort, The Giovanni Consort, The National Youth Choir of Australia, and many more.

The Oxford & Cambridge Singing School is a non-residential holiday course for children aged 7-14, and is presented in association with the Perth Choral Institute. Run by internationally renowned coaches in choral music from the historic choral institutions of Oxford and Cambridge, the Singing School is developed to inspire young musicians with classical choral repertoire in a way that is varied and intensely rewarding.

The board of the Perth Choral Institute fully believes that providing a professional level of grass roots training to singers in Perth will allow the already high standard of music making to increase markedly.
